About Me

Hi there!!! My name is Dolores Anne Maier. Most folks call me DeAnne or just Dee. I am 43 and am from the Chicagoland area. I have Follicular Lymphoma, a currently incurable blood cancer. I have been on a “watch and wait” protocol for almost 4 years. In these 4 years, I have studied and embraced a healthier, ever growing holistic based lifestyle. I hope to use this blog as a platform to share my insights, recipes, and regimen with anyone who seek them.

    1. Hi! Thanks for asking. Watch and wait, sometimes called watchful wait, is an approach used by oncologists with certain slow growing or incurable cancers. Basically you are under the care of a cancer specialist but any treatment is postponed until absolutely vital. For example with the cancer I have, Follicular Lymphoma, you can go symptomless for years. If it is treated too early the cancer comes back & oftentimes it is more aggressive than it was initially. In addition, certain treatments can only be used once so you have lost the ability to use it again. So delaying these measures actually may lengthen the patient’s life.

  1. Four years into turning down chemo, adopting a holistic based lifestyle, what has been the payoff – what’s the cancer activity? While waiting your reply will do more reading, interesting blog for sure.

    1. So far the illness hasn’t progressed any further. Very low activity. I have no new areas of involvement & some that have decreased. I feel great and have more energy. There’s a good chance I would have already relapsed if I had done treatment but who’s to say. The only way I would decide at this point to try treatment is if I had major organ involvement or started to feel very bad. Thank u very much for your question!

      1. Speaking of natural – doctors are now reporting oxygen is the proper treatment for coronavirus; not ventilators which has been found to be deadly for some patients. Not to forget high dose IV vitamin C for severe cases.
